The Specialist Barcode Family: Formats, Uses and Free Generation
A handful of symbologies defy the main families: MaxiCode was built for UPS parcel sorters reading codes moving at high speed; DotCode prints with high-speed inkjet for tobacco track-and-trace; Ultracode survives extreme damage in logistics; FIM marks reply-mail faces for USPS processing; Flattermarken carries page sequences for print finishing.
These formats are narrow but non-negotiable — if your customer is a parcel carrier, a tobacco line or a bindery, the symbology is chosen for you, and the job is to produce it correctly.
