The Pharma Barcode Family: Formats, Uses and Free Generation
The pharmaceutical family exists for one environment: packaging lines that must guarantee the right product in the right pack. Pharmacode is deliberately minimal — a single number, no redundancy, readable at extreme speeds — because it is printed and verified on the line itself, not scanned by the public.
One-track Pharmacode dominates European packaging control; the two-track variant packs the same idea into a shorter mark; PZN adds the German pharmacy number for reimbursement and stock handling. These codes have no built-in error correction, so print quality and verification are critical.
